Mini ethnography –Drinking game

 

Last Saturday, I invited some friends at my house for drinking alcohol.  Especially, I and my roommates prepared some special thing for the party. We made special jelly, which contains about 25% vodka. It took about two days to make it all because it needed three or four hours to become firm. Moreover, we made some of them as two layers jelly. To make two layers, first made on layer, waited one day, and pour another layer. The purpose of making jelly was to make more fun instead of just drinking.

 

I am living with three roommates, and we invited five friends. Two of them were male and three were female. After everyone arriving, they were sitting around one table for drinking game. The number of people was total nine, and each of them had met each other at least one time. When they chose their seat, they picked up seat nearby familiar person. For example, right side of table was occupied by my roommates (1, 2, and 8) and upper side two girls (8 and 9) were roommates. Left corner one female and male (6, 7) were roommates.

 

 

 

             The rule of game was simple. We used two dices and one cup. If the dices point less than six, the player can fill the alcohol into the glass. If the numbers are more than six, the player should drink all alcohol in the glass. If two dice points the same number, player can point a person who drink instead of him. Even though the dices point more than six, if the glass is empty, he should eat jelly.

Player 1(Female, couple): She had relationship with player 2. She drank 3 cups of Vodka. She was totally drunk after 3 shots, and became very talkative. She made strange laughing sound, and fell asleep. She gave up the game.

             Player 2(Male, couple): He arranged this game, and at first a little argued with player7 about the game rule. He punished two times. After his girl friend drank, he also disappeared for while to take care of his girl friend.

             Player 3(Female, single): She punished three Times. Especially, after she pointed Player 8 to drink, both two players pointed each other for revenge.

             Player 4(Female, couple): She was lucky because she drank only one time. One of the reasons was she sat Player 3 who lost many times. As a result, when her turn came, the glass was almost empty.

             Player 5(Male, single): He punished three times. During the game, he always was using his cell phone. It seemed he was not so much interest in this game.

             Player 6(Male, single): He refused to participate in this game. He was afraid of drinking alcohol. He just watched the game behind, and went back home early..

             Player 7 (Female, Single): She punished two times. After dinking two cups, she became very quiet. She went back home with her roommate Player 6.

             Player 8 (Male, couple): He was lucky at the beginning, but after player 3 pointed him, everyone started point him as a drinker.
