Learning a new culture causes many years to adapt it as a part of our lives. I have been in New Orleans for more than two years, but I have not known much about New Orleans. This city is a busy and interesting one. Every single day or week, there is some festival or issue is celebrated. That was great to make city non sleep. New Orleans is also known by old city of Europeans specially French. Therefore New Orleans people earned many cultures from Europeans.

The culture went through people’s thinking, people’s experience, and it went to blood of American in this region. Not only area’s people like to celebrate festival or party, there are many other people in different States join in New Orleans on festival or holiday. The attraction from this place is food, Jazz music and other festivals. New Orleans is special city for who like to enhance acknowledgement about old cultural or traditional.

I had an opportunity talking with a couple who are my neighborhood have been living in New Orleans quite long. They were privilege sharing with me their cultural experiences that they had observed and sometimes joined in with when they had chance. Living in New Orleans for 32 years, Mr. Ronal said he found this place is his sweet home even though there are several Hurricane disasters happening every year. However, for him disaster is not important reason leaving to another place. Therefore, something has to be really significant to pull him back and stay at New Orleans. The answer was the regional value which is New Orleans people’s character and fabulous festivals around Louisiana, particularly in New Orleans.

There are some essential festivals are celebrated annually such as Mardi Gras, Halloween, or Jazz festival. Mr. Ronal did participate when he was young, but his health does not let him go frequently joining in the crowd. Even though he can not go to particular place, he joins with them through his television. In order cheer him up, I made a question if someone ask you describing about New Orleans people, how he can say. Immediately, he said: “Colorful, friendly, and genuine.” That was a great answer to immerge my mind about this area people.

Talking about culture, food cannot be avoided. Ms.Janice, Mr. Ronal’s wife, really enjoins cooking. I sometimes had been invited dining with her family in supper to taste her food especially Cajun food. She also showed me several ingredients joining each meal; she is expert American food because “It a part of our culture,” She said.

Because of living in New Orleans quite long, Mr. Ronal and Ms. Janice know many experiences; so they happily invite or persuade those who are looking a home come to New Orleans. Here, there are good healthy food, special celebrations and Saint, football team.

In New Orleans, French Quarter is an old French city remaining after the American government purchasing. It is a special city for tourists because there are festivals celebrated and gathering people “to give and to earn”. Meaning that New Orleans people give tourists their talent such as music skill, many kind of delicious tastes and decoration; whereas, tourist receive those presents as an acknowledge and enjoining. However, Mr. Ronal and Ms. Janice rarely come to this place because they usually plan going visit their relative in holyday, and they prefer a quiet place rather than noisy. Therefore, they may not join in sea food festival celebrated along River Walk in central city in this weekend.

That was a awesome interview I had with Mr. Ronal and Ms. Janice. They are generously sharing with me all misunderstanding culture; they also suggest me going out to learn New Orleans culture. Furthermore, they offer me a drive if I have chance to go out. They generously guide me as a tour guide.
